Jean Pascal: I will nail Tavoris Cloud and come out as the two-time world champion – Boxing News
Jean Pascal, the former WBC light heavyweight champion, in a recent media interaction stated that he wants to see Tavoris Cloud in his best form and shape adding that he is entering the ring as the former champion but will come out of it as the two-time
world champion.
The former International Boxing Organization light heavyweight champion, Pascal further added that he has taken on this fight after much consideration only because he wants to reach on top again by taking on the top-notch and ace pugilists of the division.
The Canadian proud was of the view that Cloud is the best and fans will enjoy the bout between two of the best in the division adding that he hopes to see Cloud in his best shape and form so that no excuses are made before or during the bout.
Jean remarked that he will also strive hard and will try his level best to avoid any excuses from his side. Pascal, 28, has been in a total 29 bouts and will enter the ring after facing two dismal decisions in his last two bouts.
Pascal last collided with Bernard Hopkins twice and in one clash grabbed a majority draw decision whereas in the other one received a unanimous decision loss in addition to losing the WBC and International Boxing Organisation light heavyweight titles.
During the media interaction, Pascal replied Cloud’s comments and stated, “He is hungry but, with all due respect, I don’t think you are going to make your name on me. I know this is a big opportunity for you because I’m the door to success and big money.
You’re a warrior like me and this fight will not go to the distance. I hope Cloud comes in the best shape because I don’t want any excuses. And I won’t have any excuses either.”
With great motivation and confidence Pascal further added, “He is the current world champion but unfortunately for him on Aug. 11, he is going to leave as the former world champion and I am going to be a two-time world champion.”
Cloud, 30, currently resides at third position in both World Boxing Organisation’s and in his national divisional rankings. The ‘Thunder’ has been in a total 24 bouts and boasts an undefeated streak. The bout will be his fifth IBF title defence bout.
The duo will headline the pay-per-view jointly promoted by Yvon Michel of GYM Promotions and Don King of Don King Productions and the ring for the showdown will be set up at Bell Centre, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The clash will also have the vacant International
Boxing Organisation light heavyweight gold up for grabs.
