Jean-Paul Duminy: South Africa’s rising young star
Grace, style, calm and consistent all describe http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jean-Paul-Duminy-c66758, the world-class top-order batsman of South Africa’s cricket team. A player who plays cover drive and square cut strokes to build up his innings that often ends with a handsome score, a player
who is famous for his long sixes and a player who deserves to be the only accurate substitute of the former South African batsman, Jonty Rhodes. When Duminy is with the bat, he hits hard and lasts long. He is considered to be one of the finest stroke makers
in the South African side. The team will be looking for a solid contribution from him as they compete on the grandest of all stages, the ICC World Cup 2011.
The left-handed Duminy started the game from his hometown team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cape-Cobras-c776. Initially excelling with the bat, he was determined to become a batsman. After playing for Western Province for some years and achieving some marvelous titles, Duminy was ripe to
qualify for the Under-19s squad that was going to tour England in 2003. At his return from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749, Duminy also played the 2003-04 home season of the U-19s cricket.
Duminy started his international career with a 5-match One Day International series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in 2004. His performance was mediocre as he only managed 4 runs in his debut and lacked any performance throughout the series. Two years later, he played
in a home ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 and had a visible improvement in form. Unfortunately it was not enough, as he was forced to miss the ICC World Cup 2007.
In 2008, Duminy had an opportunity to play Test cricket and made way into the squad to face Australia. He only managed to score a single run in his first innings. During the second innings, Duminy hit a marvelous fifty which included 4 four and 1 six. In
the second Test, Duminy went on to score his highest ever 166. After that, Duminy cemented his position in the team. In 2009, Duminy was hired by the Indian Premier League to play for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians franchise. He remained in form throughout the tournament
and scored two fifties along with other runs. Duminy got some very valuable experience of playing in the Subcontinent, with flat pitches and warmer conditions. This experience will be invaluable as he enters the World Cup.
The South African has played 20 Tests, 71 ODIs and 30 T20 so far. He has 518 Test, 1970 ODI and 646 T20 runs including 3 centuries and 18 fifties to his credit. His boundries include 240 fours and 45 sixes. Apart from that brilliant performance, he has 34
wickets. Although Duminy’s career is still young, his initial numbers look very promising. If he continues playing the way he is, we can expect to see many great achievements and awards coming his way.
Duminy is playing his maiden World Cup in the Subcontinent and is looking to have a memorable performance for his team. He seems to be in great confidence and courage, as he exhibited good form in the warm-up games by scoring 47 against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746. The Proteas
will be looking to him to take charge of the innings and put in some amazing contributions for the team.
Duminy will have to prove himself, as the pressure is immense during this mega event. It will be interesting to see how he manages to adapt to the conditions and take on some of the world’s top teams. Duminy is up to the challenge, as he looks to make history
and take his team into the finals and bring the coveted trophy home.
