Act 7 of the 2011 Extreme Sailing Series was launched superbly at Nice on Mediterranean waters with some excellent sailing display from the home favourite Extreme 40 team, Team Extreme Nice Côte d’Azur. The team is led by local hero, Jean-Pierre d**k. Despite
a low forecast, the Extreme fleet produced fascinating sail on the opening day at Nice.
The Bay of Angels proved to be an open venue for a solid sail on Mediterranean waters. Spectators from around the world are expected to get a glimpse of the 40-feet catamarans, as the Act 7 fleet will be open for public this weekend, from Friday-Sunday.
Sailing fans of Nice will be watching their own side of Team Extreme Nice Côte d’Azur for the first time on waters.
Team Extreme Nice Côte d’Azur made an impressive first move in the tournament and finished third in the overall podium places with 31 points, four points behind the leader board, Red Bull Extreme Sailing. d**k’s crew members including trimmer, Billy Besson,
tactician, Jérémie Beyou and bowman, Arnaud Jarlegant did a wonderful job on the first day.
While speaking to the media at the conclusion of first day, d**k said, “My first day on an Extreme 40 was great and with a good result. We had a lot of fun and didn't expect to do as well as we did. It's great to be here in Nice, in my hometown, surrounded
