The Olympique de Marseille legend is a big fan of the Paris Saint-Germain striker and has compared him to Dutch legend Marco Van Basten
Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 legend, Jean-Pierre Papin has tipped Paris Saint-Germain star, Zlatan Ibrahimovic to score more than 30 goals in the league this season.
The tall striker has already bagged seven goals in just five Championnat games and the former striker feels that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sweden-c3015 international will break his own personal record for most goals in a season. Last season, Ibra scored 28 Serie A goals for AC Milan
which was his best goalscoring record so far.
While talking to media, Papin said that it’s not easy to predict how many goals the PSG man will score as there will be times when Ibrahimovic will not score or might be injured or suspended.
"It's impossible to predict how many goals he will make. There will always be a few games without goals and injuries or suspensions. It will be difficult for him to keep up his current goal-to-games ratio," Papin told
RMC.
Currently, the record for scoring most goals in the Ligue 1 is held by another Olympique de Marseille player in Josip Skoblar. The former Yugoslavia international scored 44 goals for Les Phoceens in the 1970/71 season and it is unlikely that his record would
be broken anytime soon.
"He is surrounded by a great team and I think that he can surpass my 30 goals (from 1989-90). (Josip) Skoblar's record tally of 44 goals might be a bridge too far, but he has still hugely impressed me.”
Regardless, Papin is hugely impressed by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 man with Dutch legend Marco Van Basten.
"He reminds me a bit of Marco van Basten. He has the same style of play, but is even more of a physical presence."
Despite the rivalry between Marseille and PSG, Papin maintains that he does not envy the Swede as he is a totally different player from what he used to be during his playing days.
"I don't envy him, because he has different qualities than I had. It's quite rare to see a player with his physical appearance move so smoothly in front of the goal. I really like his combination of power and finesse.”
On Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain will host FC Sochaux in Week 7 of the 2012/2013 Championnat and Ibrahimovic would certainly be looking to add to his growing tally of Ligue 1 goals.
