Jean Todt of Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile visits Robert Kubica in the hospital – Formula 1 update
Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) president Jean Todt visited Lotus Renault GP’s, Robert Kubica, in the Santa Corona hospital accompanied by other FIA officials including Professor Gerard Saillant. According to some reports, it has been revealed
that Jean did not comment at all after this visit and according to Robert’s manager, Daniele Morelli, it was a personal visit by the FIA’s president rather than an official visit.
Kubica was in a terrible accident recently during a rally event over a month ago and as a result, almost lost his right hand. The Pole had to go through a number of operations and surgeries in order to ensure that his right hand works properly once he is
fully recovered. According to his doctors, a complete recovery is still uncertain but they are quite confident that he will be able to perform most normal tasks.
“Robert is continuing here on the basis of the plan established by the medical staff. His medical and psychological conditions are good, certainly we will stay here for a few weeks more and then evaluate the next steps based on his clinical condition,” said
Morelli.
Later reports have suggested that Jean Todt is also quite satisfied with Robert’s progress and he hopes that the Pole recovers soon. It has also been revealed that security officers guard Kubica’s room in the spinal rehabilitation unit of the Santa Corona
hospital.
It was expected that Robert Kubica was going to be one of the top drivers of the 2011 Formula 1 season especially after the amazing test results obtained by his team, which clearly revealed that the team had built a very fast car for its 2011 run.
Nevertheless, Robert Kubica is not going to be a part of the 2011 Formula 1 season and his team has decided to replace him with Nick Heidfeld. Kubica’s replacement has vowed to perform up to the team’s expectations and it is going to be interesting to see
how the team performs overall without Robert.
The 2011 season is expected to begin on the 27th of March in Australia.
