Jeanette Ottesen Gray of Denmark earned gold medal in the Women’s 50m butterfly on last day of the 2013 Mare Nostrum Circuit in Canet, France on Sunday, June 16.
Ottesen Gray devastated hopes of her opponents in the shortest butterfly discipline as she sprinted her way towards the finishing end for the first position. With her notable pace, she remained prominently ahead of her challengers
throughout the race and reached the finishing end comprehensively.
The Danish swimmer enjoyed a lead of half body length over her toughest challenger and transpired on the finishing end for gold medal by clocking an effort of 25.56 seconds.
The champion was trailed by Melanie Henique of France, who was 0.50 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing end for silver medal by clocking an effort of 26.16 seconds.
The second best finisher was chased by Ingvild Snildal of Norway, who remained 0.18 seconds behind and tapped the wall for bronze medal by clocking an effort of 26.34 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the event was secured by Daynara Paula of Brazil, who was hardly a stroke apart and settled on the wall with the timing of 26.77 seconds.
Fifth position of the race was secured by Dorothea Brandt of Germany, who remained nearly 0.60 seconds apart and posted an effort of 27.33 seconds.
Following that, the arena witnessed notable efforts of South African swimmer, Roland Schoeman, who occupied gold medal of the men’s 50m butterfly. Schoeman remained prominently ahead of his challenger and emerged on the finishing
end for first position by posting an effort of 23.32 seconds.
The champion was chased by Romain Sassot of France, who was 0.71 seconds apart and finished second in the race by producing an effort of 24.03 seconds.
The silver medallist was traced by Riku Poytakivi of Finland, who was 0.22 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for bronze medal with an effort of 24.25 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was obtained by Marcos Barale of Argentina, who was 0.22 seconds away from his preceding finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 24.47 seconds.
Barale was traced by Reynard Wessels of South Africa, who was 0.09 seconds slower and posted an effort of 24.56 seconds.
In addition, both swimmers were contented with their top finish in their respective events while the winners collected medals at the prize ceremony of the tournament.
