Jeanette Ottesen Gray occupies Women’s 50m butterfly gold – European SC Swimming Championships
Jeanette Ottesen Gray of Denmark occupied gold medal of the Women’s 50m butterfly on day two of the 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Chartres, France on Friday, November 23.
Ottesen Gray lived up to the expectations of her supporters as she dominated the playoff of the event. She showed no leniency to her opponents in the 50m discipline and defended her fastest qualification spot of the race by securing the title.
With her immaculate efforts, Ottesen Gray remained just a stroke ahead of her closest swimmer and surfaced on the finishing end for gold medal by producing a time of 25.21 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Aliaksandra Herasimenia of Bulgaria, who stayed 0.32 seconds slower from her former finisher and touched the wall for silver medal by producing a time of 25.53 seconds.
Similarly, Herasimenia stayed in a lead of 0.23 seconds over Melanie Henique of France, who seized third position of the race by clocking an effort of 25.76 seconds.
Henique was traced by Ilaria Bianchi of Italy, who suffered a deficit of only 0.03 seconds from the third position holder and concluded her race in a time of 25.79 seconds for fourth position.
Bianchi was chased by Kimberly Buys of Belgium, who stayed 0.04 seconds apart and concluded her race in fifth place by touching the wall with the timing of 25.83 seconds.
Buys was trailed by Triin Aljand of Estonia, who remained 0.13 seconds slower and concluded her race in sixth place by hitting the wall with a timing of 25.96 seconds.
Aljand enjoyed an advantage of 0.14 seconds over Silvia Di Pietro of Italy, who reached the finishing end for seventh position by submitting a time of 26.10 seconds.
Di Pietro was traced by Maaike de Waard of Netherlands, who was 0.29 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and clocked a time of 26.39 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Ottesen received massive appreciation from the crowd for her gruelling efforts and stated that she would continue her struggle in order to accomplish the same at upcoming World Short Course Championships in Turkey.
