Jeanette Ottesen Gray seizes Women’s 100m butterfly title – FINA Swimming World Cup, Singapore
Jeanette Ottesen of Denmark seized gold medal of the Women’s 100m butterfly on first day of the concluding stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Singapore, Asia on Saturday, November 10.
Gray dictated terms to her opponents in the 100m discipline as she proved her mettle for the title. With her invincible efforts, she remained in a prominent lead over her challengers and tapped the wall for gold medal.
Ottesen Gray enjoyed a half body length lead over her closest competitor as she touched the wall for title with an effort of 57.75 seconds.
The gold medallist was traced by Li Tao of Singapore, who stayed 0.58 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing blockade with the timing of 58.33 seconds for silver medal.
Tao was traced by Inge Dekker of Netherlands, who stayed 0.33 seconds apart and occupied bronze medal of the race by producing a time of 58.66 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Lan Liu of China, who stayed 0.29 seconds apart surfaced on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by clocking a time of 58.95 seconds.
Subsequently, fifth finest spot of the event was obtained by Amanda Loots of South Africa, who suffered a loss of only 0.07 seconds from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 00.02 seconds.
Loots was chased by Jacqueline Staples of Australia, who remained 1.50 seconds away from upsetting her foregoing finisher and proved her eligibility for sixth position by clocking a time of 1 minute and 01.52 seconds.
Staples was traced by Meagan Lim of Singapore, who remained two body lengths apart and clocked a time of 1 minute and 03.78 seconds for seventh position.
Similarly, Lim remained almost two seconds away from her following swimmer and compatriot, Natasha Tan, who ended up her race in eighth place by producing a time of 1 minute and 05.69 seconds.
In addition, the crowd went wild with the remarkable form of Ottesen Gray in her main event while the winner expressed contentment at the victory ceremony after the event.
