Jeanette Ottesen grabs Women’s 100m freestyle gold: Day five – British Gas Swimming Championships
Jeanette Ottesen of Denmark grabbed gold medal of the Women’s Guest 100m freestyle final on day five of the 2012 British Gas Swimming Championships at the London Aquatics Centre on Wednesday, March 7.
The 24-year-old Ottesen served notice of her talent by clinching gold medal of the event with an effort of 54.14 seconds. With her nerve-wrecking pace, she remained 0.62 seconds ahead of Daniela Schreiber of Germany, who followed her on the victory stand
for silver medal with the timing of 54.76 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Hannah Wilson of Hong Kong, who remained just 0.13 seconds slower from his former finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 54.89 seconds for bronze medal. The fourth spot of the race was secured by Karin Prinsloo
of South Africa, who was 0.17 seconds behind her foregoing finisher and tapped the concluding wall with an effort of 55.06 seconds.
Next was the final round of Men’s Guest 200m backstroke, where Radoslaw Kawecki of Poland proved his audacity for the gold spot by producing an effort of 1 minute and 58.34 seconds. The champion was trailed by Darren Murray of South Africa, who stayed 1.51
seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and emerged on the finishing blockade with an effort of 1 minute and 59.85 seconds.
He was trailed by his team-member, Charl Crous, who was 1.10 seconds slower from him on the finishing end but stepped on the victory stand for bronze medal by completing his swim in a time of 2 minutes and 00.95 seconds.
The fourth spot of the race was seized by Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or of Israel, who stayed nearly two strokes behind his former finisher and finished his race in a time of 2 minutes and 01.76 seconds. Mattias Carlsson of Sweden was the fifth finest swimmer of
the discipline as he stayed just 0.03 seconds slower from overpowering his foregoing finisher and posted an effort of 2 minutes and 01.79 seconds.
Furthermore, the session ended after the completion of all scheduled events in Men and Women’s category whereas the podium finishers collected medals at medal ceremony of the championship.
