Jeanette Ottesen pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 50m butterfly on third day of the 2012 Maria Lenk Trophy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Thursday, April 26.
Ottesen served notice of her talent by capturing the title of the Women’s 50m event. With her invincible efforts, she succeeded in edging out her strongest challenger, Daynara Paula, over the finishing end for gold medal.
She remained considerably ahead of her challengers throughout the single lap butterfly event as she tapped the finishing blockade with the timing of 25.29 seconds.
Her gold winning feat was trailed by Paula, who reached the medal rostrum for silver medal by touching the wall with the timing of 26.26 seconds.
Third spot of the discipline was secured by Daniele de Jesus, who stayed 0.31 seconds behind and hit the wall with the timing of 26.57 seconds.
On the other hand, Cesar Augusto Cielo Filho snared the title of Men’s 50m butterfly by touching the wall with a timing of 22.76 seconds.
His scintillating effort placed him prominently ahead of his closest competitor, Dos Santos, who hit the finishing blockade for silver medal by submitting a time of 22.79 seconds.
Fred Bousquet emerged as the third fastest finisher of the shortest butterfly discipline as he posted a time of 23.02 seconds.
Following that, Ana Carvalho proved her eligibility for the crown of the Women’s 100m breaststroke by hitting the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 10.53 seconds.
Her tremendous effort was followed by Pamela Souza, who clinched silver medal of the same discipline by posting 1 minute and 10.75 seconds on the board.
Juliana Marin transpired on the finishing end as third best swimmer as she clocked a time of 1 minute and 11.36 seconds.
Meanwhile, Felipe Silva captured gold of the Men’s 100m breaststroke with the timing of 59.83 seconds.
He was chased by Henrique Barbosa and Felipe Lima, who secured second and third positions of the event with timings of 1:00.38 and 1:00.54 minutes, respectively.
Furthermore, the position holders were invited on the victory stand for awards and accolades at the medal ceremony of the championship.
