I have a 1992 Jeep Wrangler 4l 6 cylinder 4 wheel drive, with automatic transmission. When I engage the 4 wheel drive, I can feel it's engaging but, there's no traction in the front wheels. What can be the cause of this?

  1. its usually the vacuum hose to solenoid on axle or from source

if you need diagrams email me i have all ref you may need and also have a 92 4.0 ho wrangler 23 " lift 44  dana 60  510 gears under tara 2 transfer case

  2. It could be the front wheel locks..

Jack the whole jeep up off the ground (USE JACK STANDS FOR SAFETY) start the jeep put it in 4 wheel drive put in gear and let it IDLE. look and see if the front drive line is turning and if the front tires are moving. If they are moving try to stop the front tires carefully not to get hurt. You may have to try and stop both front wheels if it isn't posi as the power would switch from one to the other. if you can stop both tires and the front drive line is turning then there is a problem in the wheel locker..

    good luck

  3.   it could be your shifter is not fully engaging the drive, or the front wheel lock- outs are not locked in.

  4. Have you not been using it?? Or did it just stop working> If you have locking hubs and non use they might be frozen up> Keep trying but they should be checked out and repaired>
