  1. Tae Kwon Do

I'm planning to take it next year in school...

  2. jeet kun do

  3. It depends on:  what's available in your area, and which martial art "clicks" for you.

  4. Tae Kwon do

I took tae kwon do and Jeet Kun doo

and i mastered both and the best is Tae kwon do cuz you learn to defend ur self instead of offence~

  5. Tae Kwon do

  6. You should take whichever one you can stick with.   However, I'd tell you to do TKD first.

It's easier to find Tae Kwon Do schools than JKD.  However, you're probably not going to be arrogant after you get your black belt in TKD.  If you get to Sifu level in JKD you may end up drinking the Kool Aid that tells you TKD is inferior.  Therefore you will miss out on all of the benefits of flexibility, forms, high kicks and jump kicks that TKD can teach you.  You will think that you know all you need to know about TKD because it is supposedly "in" JKD.

You may end up believing the hype that you don't need forms.  Sure you don't need forms to learn how to fight.  But the best fighters I've met studied forms even if they taught a style that didn't need forms (like a guy who knows KungFu and Boxing but only teaches Boxing).

Got to TKD first.  Get a black belt.  Then go to JKD and become arrogant.

It's not that I don't like JKD.  Technically, if you've read the Tao of JeetkuneDo I'm practicing it myself because I am looking for my own expression in more than one art and using what works for me.  What I am talking about is the arrogance that abounds in the MA world that will turn you into a TKD basher as soon as you forget how to do one of your jump kicks.

  7. jeet kune do isnt properly taught anymore over time it has been changed and it's true meaning forgotten so take taekwomdo i did and it's great.

  8. Tae Kwon Do because the moves are pretty easy to learn, and it gives you this satisfaction when you're able to complete a course and move on to the next belt.

  9. jeet kune do all the way. tkd concentrates too much on a standing scenario which is great if the fight doesnt go to the ground. jeet kune do is considered the first mixed martial art. it had aspects of ground fighting as well as stand up fighting.  you are also less likely to find a jeet kune do "mcdojo". it is less common than tae kwon do and has an awful lot less sub standard black belts.
