Jeev Milkha Singh, SSP Chowrasia are joining the Volvo China Open field
Jeev Milkha Singh and SSP Chowrasia, both the Indian players are in the field of the Volvo China Open, adding value to the co-sanctioned event.
This tournament is staged by OneAsia Tour and European Tour, at the amazing site of the Binhai Lake Golf Club in Tianjin, China.
The field is tough and there are many other professionals who will be teeing off on April 19, 2012. Both the Indians are making the field more appealing and competitive.
Singh is a former champion of the tournament. He won the co-sanctioned event in April 2006, by scoring 10-under 278. He defeated Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano with a one-stroke lead impressively.
The 40-year-old professional golf player is currently playing on the European Tour and played six tournaments so far. He has faced tough challenges while scoring and also faced troubling competitors.
His best finish in the current year was at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, where he finished on the 24th position, achieving the highest scores of 5-under par.
Chowrasia, the 33-year-old Kolkata native, has won twice in the European Tour staged events. He triumphed in the 2008 Emaar-MGF Indian Masters and the 2011 Avantha Masters.
However, in the current year, he also faced tough challenges in finishing the tournaments on the top. He has played six tournaments up till now and was unable to impress the spectators in all the events.
His best finish of the year was at the Volvo Golf Champions, where he finished on the 24th position at day-end. Similarly, he scored -2 at the Commercialbank Qatar Masters, presented by Dolphin Energy, the highest of 2012.
Both the Indians have not played well since January, however, they are capable enough to lead the scores by delivering their best.
The Belgium native defending champion, Nicolas Colsaerts, is padding up for the tournament. He desires to win back the glory by showing impressive scoring in the four-day tournament.
“This is the first time I have defended a title so I am looking forward to it very much,” Colsaerts said. "Obviously the Volvo China Open moves course every year so it won’t have the same feeling as returning to the same course, but I am glad to be going
back. It changed a lot for me".
On the other hand, Ian Poulter, Paul Casey and Peter Hanson are also in the field of the Volvo China Open. They are also adding value to the tournament and are highly likely to compete well in China.
