Jeev Milkha Singh aims to rejuvenate his form in Scotland – Golf News
Jeev Milkha Singh is hoping to put some poor form behind him and get ready for his title defence at this week’s Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, when he tees off at the Castle Stuart Golf Links, on July 11, 2013.
Last year, he entered into the sudden-death playoffs in the same event accompanied by Francesco Molinari. He then outshined his opponent and took home his fourth European Tour title.
Since then, the Indian star has not been able to show the same class and only managed to record just one top-finish thereafter. In addition to that, he also missed the cut in each of the last four events he participated in.
That is the reason why he is not in the list of favourites for a victory in this year’s edition of the tournament.
However, Singh do not think the same, as he believes that his return to the “Home of Golf” will help him rejuvenate his form and a successful title defence at Castle Stuart.
“The respect, the feeling you get when you get back is fantastic, and everybody is congratulating you, and a year later, it's amazing, the feeling you can't explain - that's the way I would put it,” said Singh. “I'm glad I'm back,
and I'm looking forward to this week.”
“Whenever you’ve won on a golf course, you feel positive, and you want to do well again, and I think the positive vibes and mentally thinking well helps you quite a bit when you come back to a golf course where you've won,” he
added.
Currently, the biggest concern for Singh is his index finger injury, as it was the main reason behind his below par performances in the past few weeks.
Talking to the European Tour’s official website, he said that he will have to forget about the pain and focus on what he can do to overcome the pain that he feels while playing shots, especially from the tee box.
In addition to that, his commitment to defend his title in Scotland also makes him unavailable for a premier of a Bollywood movie that is based on the life of his father.
