Jeev Milkha Singh is set to participate in the Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open despite injury issues
Despite struggling with the trigger finger injury, Jeev Milkha Singh of India is hopeful of leaving a strong impression when he tees off at the Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open this week.
During his playoff victory at the Scottish Open, Singh injured his figure and spend four weeks off the course afterwards.
According to his doctors, he needed complete rest, in order to give his finger some time to recover. However, he decided to make a comeback last week in Japan and shared the 31st spot on the leaderboard.
He admitted that he himself was surprised with such a good finish in the tournament, despite making a comeback after one month.
According to him, he always likes to play tournaments in Japan, because of his experience in the past. In his 20 professional career wins, four came on the Japan Golf Tour.
“I was pleasantly surprised at how I played last week considering I didn’t touch a club for four weeks. It is always a treat coming back to Japan,” said Singh.
While talking to the Asian Tour website, he admitted that he is still suffering from pain in his finger.
“Yes, it still hurts (trigger finger) and it is on the way to healing. Four weeks of not touching the golf clubs helped but I still have to tape it up. Hopefully it will slowly get better. I did nothing during the four weeks! I spent a lot of time with my
son, wife and the family. It was good fun,” smiled the 40-year-old.
Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open, one of the elite tournaments in Japan, will be held at the Higashi Hirono Golf Club in Hyogo. The event is set to feature some of the prominent figures on the tour.
Tetsuji Hiratsuka, Gaganjeet Bhullar, Ryo Ishikawa, Anirban Lahiri and Marcus Fraser are some of the big names who are confirmed to participate in the event, co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the Japan Golf Tour.
However, Singh is not too worried about the field. He is rather trying to focus on his own game.
According to the golf commentators, Singh has the potential of challenging his rivals in the field, despite having injury issues.
