Jeev Milkha Singh will return to the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open for his title defence
Jeev Milkha Singh of India is relishing the opportunity to return to the site of his maiden European Tour victory in 2012, when he tees off next year at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, on July 11, 2012.
The tournament will be staged at the Castle Stuart Golf Links, featuring some of the prominent names from different parts of the world.
Last year, Singh and Francesco Molinari shared the top spot on the leaderboard, at the end of 72 holes in regulation.
As a result, the game entered into the sudden-death playoffs, where the Indian overcame his Italian counterpart by draining a 12-foot birdie putt on the first extra hole.
While making confirmation to return to defend his title, Singh said that he loved the venue course last year. Therefore, it will be a great experience for him to return and try to win the event for the second time in a row.
“I will be back there,” confirmed Singh, who turned 41 earlier this month. “I love that golf course at Castle Stuart. Obviously you always love a course that you win on so I am happy to be back there next year to defend the title”.
He also said that winning the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open was the best victory of his career. According to him, winning the tournament in Scotland is something one can be proud of.
“It was really special. It was one of the best wins I have had in my career so far, especially winning in Scotland, the Home of Golf - where it all began – and on a links golf course, so it was something special for me. I would say it is one of the biggest
wins of my career,” he added.
Recently, the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open was named as the Sporting Event of the Year at the Sunday Mail and sportscotland Scottish Sports Awards. The award was sponsored by EventScotland.
The tournament officials have announced to offer the tickets for the 2013 edition on discounted prices. The four-day ticket is available for just £60, if bought before December 31, 2012. The price will increase to £70 from January 1, 2013, onwards.
