Jeff Burton signs contract extension with Richard Childress Racing – NASCAR news
Jeff Burton, the driver of the No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet in Sprint Cup Series at Richard Childress Racing, has signed a new multi-year contract with the team.
Caterpillar Inc. has also extended the contract to sponsor Burton’s RCR Chevrolet Impala.
The No. 31 driver made his debut in RCR at August 22, 2004 at the Michigan International Speedway. In his first outing, he started at 28th place and managed to finish at 12th place.
Jeff Burton and his RCR team qualified for the Chase in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for the 2010 season. The RCR had a good run with 11 top-five finishes and 25 top-ten finishes with CAT partnership. The No. 31 Chevy team also won the second Gatorade Duel 150
qualifying round out of two Duels to assure a run in 2011 season’s Daytona 500 at DIS.
“I’m excited to continue my relationship with both Richard Childress and Caterpillar,” Burton expressed at a press release.
During their partnership over the past few years, Burton has had a good opportunity to work with many great people at CAT and he feels to give their employees, dealers and faithful customers a successful bond on and off the track. After a good time relationship
between Burton and Richard Childress Racing, it was a great honour for the South Boston native to continue his Sprint Cup career with his team and have full support from the sponsors Caterpillar Inc.
Caterpillar has been attached with the NASCAR series since 1993. Initially, it was a team sponsor at Nationwide Series from 1995-1996 and in the following season, they moved up to NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The successful bond between RCR and CAT Inc. was
formed in 2009.
“RCR is very happy to announce the continuation of our partnerships with both Caterpillar and Jeff Burton on the No. 31 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series,” said Richard Childress, President and CEO of Richard Childress Racing.
The CEO also added that CAT Racing has proved its success on and off the track situations with the collected efforts of Jeff Burton and his No. 31 Chevy team and providing creative programs to its loyal customers. Childress is looking forward to assure that
the bond between RCR, driver Jeff Burton, and sponsor CAT Inc. remains successful.
Bill Flinty, Vice President for Americas distribution services Division for Caterpillar, was pleased to announce the extended partnership for sponsoring the RCR No. 31 Chevy Impala.
