Jeff Curran and Johnny Eduardo to brawl in prelims of UFC on Fuel TV3 at Patriot Center – UFC news
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently announced Jeff Curran, the American mixed martial art brawler, will take on the Brazilian proud Johnny Eduardo, in a three-round non-title bout.
UFC will televise its third show on Fuel TV, which will be headlined by the featherweight brawl between Dustin Poirier and Chan Sung Jung. The pay-per-view, which will be held on May 15, 2012, will be co-headlined by the skirmish between Thiago Silva and
Igor Pokrajac.
The bout between Curran and Eduardo will most probably take place on the preliminary card and will be fought in the bantamweight division. Jeff, well known as ‘The Big Frog’, has a hefty resume that boasts many wins while brawling for different mixed martial
art promotions.
Curran has been in a total 47 bouts and came out victorious in 33. He has collected just 2 wins by knockout, a whopping 18 by submission and 13 by either split or unanimous decision.
Jeff is famous for being a ground player and his lethalness is visible when he grasps his opponent in vicious submission maneuver to collect a clean, swift win, the reason why he has nailed most of his opponent’s by making them submit.
The 34-year-old Curran recently made his UFC debut against Scott Jorgensen and lost the three-round encounter via unanimous decision. Jeff though does not boast huge wins yet possesses an experience that can help him outwit any big name easily provided he
uses his ground game and tactics efficiently.
Johnny, on the other hand, has been in a total 34 brawls. He has emerged out of the octagon as a victor in 25 brawls and, just like Jeff, made an unsuccessful UFC debut recently against Raphael Assuncao.
Both men have fought in UFC octagon once and have lost their respective bouts via unanimous decision. Eduardo, who hails from Brazil, has collected six of his wins by knockout, 13 by submission and six by decision. The 33-year Eduardo and Curran are almost
equal when it comes to game plan and fighting style but reflect huge difference when it comes to experience.
The octagon for the bout will be set up at Patriot Center situated in Fairfax, Virginia and the whole fight card still needs to be arranged.
