Jeff Fisher's job as Tennessee Titans head coach uncertain
Even though the Tennessee Titans players want to keep Jeff Fisher as head coach, and Fisher also wants to stay on in the position, it is uncertain if owner Bud Adams wants the same thing.
Three years ago the Titans made it to the playoffs with the AFC’s top seed, posting a 13-3 record. Although they didn’t get to the playoffs for the next two years, they started the season 5-2, before losing their next six games to drop out of the playoff
run. Their season ended with a 23-20 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
Although Fisher’s 16 years with the Titans make him the longest serving head coach in the league, he answered questions about the possibility of Sunday's game being his last with the team.
"I'm under contract for another year, so we'll see," Fisher said. "We're going to come back and have wrap-up physicals tomorrow and we'll start our evaluation process."
Titans Owner Bud Adams though isn’t happy about the team's record this season, and plans to evaluate Fisher in the coming weeks. After starting the season off well, the Titans hired receiver Randy Moss to help them reach the playoffs, but he caught only
six passes for 80 yards in Week 10 against the Miami Dolphins.
"We came in with the attitude of doing some great things this season, and it kind of just slid in the middle," receiver Nate Washington said. "We've got to find a way as an organisation to put a whole season together next year."
Chris Johnson, running back for the Titans, said that Fisher “must be doing something right” to have held the head coaching job for so long. Cornerback Cortland Finnegan also said that he wants Fisher to come back for another season. Finnegan said, "For
me, personally, he gave me a shot. He's an amazing coach; a player's coach."
Fisher started coaching the Titans back in 1994 before they changed their name from the Houston Oilers.
