Jeff Mayweather comments on Celestino Caballero’s clash with Jonathan Barros – Boxing news
The Jazzy, Jeff Mayweather is training the former undisputed Super Bantamweight WBA&IBF Super Champion for the WBA, Celestino Caballero, for his highly anticipated title shot against the WBA featherweight champion, Jonathan Barros.
The fight between both pugilists is to be held in Barros’ native country, Argentina, on June 18, 2011 and the well-respected trainer, Mayweather, reckons his fighter is going to bulldoze the Yoni, Barros, in front of his home crowd.
The 47-year-old American, Mayweather, who fought in the 1990s, told the media Caballero is in great shape and his training is going great. He added his fight, which left everybody flabbergasted upon losing in November 2010 via split decision over ten rounds
against the awkward puncher Jason Litzau, is putting in too much effort to regain his glory back.
Mayweather claimed Caballero, who has won 34 of his 38 fights including 23 by the way of a knockout, is one of the best fighters in his division.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “I know that training is going great. Celestino’s weight is great, he's punching extremely hard. My most important thing is to not put too much wear and tear on his legs because he's one of the rare fighters that
without his legs he's a little better than average fighter but with his legs he becomes an exceptional fighter. At 126 no one can beat him when they are firmly under him.”
In the end Mayweather, whose biggest accomplishment was winning the IBO super featherweight title from John Roby, expressed his feelings for Panama.
The trainer stated it has been a great experience for him, as the country is full of life and every day one finds something going on in it.
“What makes Panama unique to me is that the place is so festive. It's like going to Venice Beach every day. There's always something going on,” he said.
Let’s see whether the Towering Inferno, Celestino Caballero, can really shrug off the Argentinean, Barros, in front of his home crowd or not.
