Jeff Mayweather terms Floyd Mayweather’s ending against Victor Ortiz perfect – Boxing news
Jeff ‘Jazzy’ Mayweather, who is a former boxer and a world-class trainer now, claims his nephew Floyd Mayweather, who is a five-division world champion and the current World Boxing Association world welterweight champion, ended his mega fight with Victor
Ortiz in a perfect way.
Mayweather recently secured a controversial fourth round knockout over Ortiz in their much-anticipated bout on September 17, 2011 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jeff believes it was the perfect ending after the situation Ortiz created.
“I thought it was a masterful performance and everybody knows why Ortiz did what he did. He got frustrated. I loved the ending. It was the perfect ending to a situation in which Ortiz created. He started it and Floyd finished it,” Jeff told Fighthype.com.
Ortiz intentionally head-butted Mayweather earlier in the fourth round but later on when the fight was reset, he somehow felt guilty and went on to hug Mayweather. The experienced Mayweather allowed Ortiz to hug him however, he unleashed two devastating
punches which knocked out the Garden City warrior.
Therefore, Jeff admitted many people think it was bad sportsmanship from Mayweather but on the same note the coach stated people do not know what damage the head-butt could have done to his nephew.
Jeff said the way Ortiz head-butted it could have broken his nephew’s nose or could have done an even bigger damage.
Jeff remarked, “And the other thing is this, people don’t know the severity of what that headbutt could have done. He could have pushed Floyd’s nose up into his brain and killed him. I know that sounds extreme, but when you have a guy launch himself into
you like that, you don’t know what can happen. He also could have broken his nose.”
Ortiz is now desperate to avenge his defeat against Mayweather, who very smartly protected his unbeaten record.
Let’s see if Mayweather gives Ortiz another chance to face him, as it will be another huge fight.
