i know most of u probably hate jeff but some of us actually like him. i dont know where all of the sudden people are all over jeff about his winless streak. The drivers do not create the pressure to win the stupid TV reporters do. I mean jeff might be winless so far but we are talking about a guy who once won 13 races in one season so who really cares if he doesnt win 4 or 5 races a season the championship is more important anyway. And it looks to me like being winless might not be so bad right now he is 6th in the points and doing ok for not winning any races. i mean he has won what 4 titles already.

  1. I think they are just biding their time getting things figured out with the car and tire package. I have never been a big fan, but those people who are on here saying that he is "washed out" or a "has been" are crazy! You are right about the media creating pressure for the drivers to win. His team has already come a long way since the beginning of the season. He wasn't even in the top 12 there for awhile, and now he is in sixth with consistent top 10 finishes each week. They will be a force to be reckoned with come chase time. Since I started watching, I can only remember one season where he wasn't, and that was when he was having marital problems.

  2. I don't think so, since it became apparent that they weren't going to dominate this year I quietly stashed them away for the Chase in my fantasy leagues. I have a feeling they might pull off a shocker.

  3. I'm going to disagree with the majority and state that , yes, it is a problem.  Even though Gordon is 6th in points, that team hasn't contended for a race all year.  Letarte has consistently missed on setups and even worse,   the 24 car always seems underpowered, even down the straightaways..

You don't contend for and win championships by getting finishes based on luck and strategy.  The 24 team is struggling... badly....

  4. Well the last 2 years he has been winning and then not doing so great in the chase. I hope that this will turn around . I listen to his scanner every race and this year they have been missing the setups at every track. I know goodyear has brought new tires this year but they have been testing every where and still don't seem to get it. I would like to see Jeff get that 5th Championship before he retires !

  5. now what are yall gonna do if he wins on fuel mileage

this place would be a rage

  6. The media is the ones who put the pressure on the drivers about winless streaks. He is what 6 in points now. The championship is what is the most important not winning a couple of races.

  7. Not necessarily.

Its not to say that Jeff has been a top 25 car at best. He's been there late in the race for wins but never so far able to cap it off, much like Dale Jr. until he finally broke through.

It seems like Hendrick is either fallen from grace somewhat or that all the other teams caught up to them & its making them look like they've slumped. I see him winning at least 3 races by the end of the season though.

  8. nope. i think he'd like to have at least one win to match his other two high-profile teammates, but he's a smart racer - he knows he only needs to be in the top 12 after richmond, then it's on.  i think we'll see big improvements in the #48 and #24 teams come chase time - chad knaus is a very smart guy and  has admitted that the #48 team has the strategy down for the chase and that they sometimes "use" pre-chase races to prepare for the chase. and jeff gordon essentially confirmed it last year while discussing how the #24 team lost last year - not prepping enough for the final 10 races... BEFORE the chase.

ever find it interesting that these same teams, who did so well at all tracks they ran the COT on, struggle on some of those same tracks year?  they're trying new things and if they work out, great.  if not, knaus or letarte always pull out some odd strategy move and manage to get them at least a top-fifteen finish, and often better...  for all the "trouble" hendricks is supposedly in, both the #24 and the #48 teams are pretty much in the chase... all they have to do is seal the deal to get into the chase, and they'll have a ton of data ready to put into action.

    that's my $0.18

  9. I don't think it's too much of a problem, as long as he keeps getting good finishes and makes the chase. Then he can focus on winning.

  10. Again I have to agree with #18. While I was reading his answer it occured to me the only reason the #88 isn't doing the same is because he has something else to prove. Jeff will be there when the chase starts. If it weren't the kind of format it is I am sure things would look alot differant right now.

  11. I agree with everyone about showing his stuff in the chase.  Sometimes I wonder though if having a child has changed is mind set a bit.  Like maybe he doesn't take chances like he would of before or just laying it all out there.  Just a thought.  He will be fine though.

  12. Nope. I don't think it's a problem but he probably does.

Besides...this is Jeff Gordon.  I wouldn't be counting him out just yet.

Down maybe for a bit but certainly not out.

  13. just give the best answer award to #18 Rowdys World

He took the time to explain the situation and I concur.

  14. I don't think it is a problem at all. I don't think he is going to stay winless long. I have a feeling he will have a top 5 or possibly the win this weekend.

    I agree with #18 Rowdys World's.

  15. I think he is having problems adjusting to the COT.  Problem?  For him yes, but with practice he'll get better and possible clinch a win.
