Jeffer Rosobin gains access to pre quarter-finals of 2013 Victor Walikota Surabaya Cup
Men’s Singles player Jeffer Rosobin continued his unbeatable run in Victor Walikota Surabaya Cup and ensured his presence in pre quarter-final round on Tuesday, May 7, 2013.
He faced another spirited shuttler Agi Hariawan Suyitno who stood tall against him for 45 minutes.
Though, Jeffer had to face strong resistance throughout the tussle but he managed to end this nerve-racking encounter with a favourable score position of 21-19 and 22-20.
On the other hand, Hariawan Suyitno had to bid adieu to this event despite of putting an honest effort in both segments of the showdown.
The battle heated up when both male shuttlers put all they had to gain an immediate advantage in first set.
They pushed each other in all areas of court and made the crowd gasp with a mesmerising show of badminton skills.
However, Jeffer did not take much time to read his rival’s game and established decent lead before the interval.
After the one-minute interval, he bagged many points in a row and widened the gap on points table. At one stage, it was felt that he will pocket this match point with a huge difference but then few back-to-back mistakes changed the story.
In third quarter of the set, Hariawan Suyitno ruled the court in few consecutive rallies and brought life back into contest.
Both contenders remained toe-to-toe but finally Jeffer struck hard and finished this set with a favourable score of 21-19.
The second set of match was also a tough trial of their mental and physical strength as it kept swinging between both shuttlers until the final moments.
Initially, Jeffer relished full benefits of his first set win and enjoyed an upper hand in the establishing rallies.
However, the opposing shuttler stormed with a strong reply and brought the contest to right balance.
Hariawan Suyitno claimed many points without any interruption and finished first half of the set with a competitive margin.
Latter part of the game was also full of drama as both players sweat hard to end this segment in a favourable manner.
Finally, this cliff-hanging set concluded when Jeffer registered a wining figure of 22-20 and marched into pre quarter-finals.
