The Peruvian international has signed an extension to his current contract and will be with the German giants until 2016.
Jefferson Farfan has signed a new four-year deal with Schalke which will keep him at the club until 2016. The player’s current contract was set to finish when the season ended and the club has been successful in securing the future

The club’s sporting director, Horst Heldt, claimed that there have been many rumours regarding the player’s departure in the summer. The chief admitted that there were few chances that the player will stay a few months back but
is confident that the winger is determined to provide his services now.
Heldt added that the club always wanted the player to stay as he has always been a vital part of Schalke’s plans for the future. He expressed his delight on the deal and is confident that Die Knappen will be fighting for the title
next year.
“We had always said that we were open to talks and about a fortnight ago there were the first signs of him coming back to the negotiating table, and we took advantage of that. We are very, very pleased that it has worked out because
we always wanted to extend Jefferson's contract,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The sporting director claimed that Farfan is a fan favourite and the supporters desperately wanted the player stay.
“In recent weeks, we have managed to get there with the support of the fans, who have always supported him, and this is important for the coming years,” he concluded.
Jefferson Farfan has thus far made 109 league appearances for Schalke and has scored an impressive 23 times in the process. The player has been out for most of the current season with injury and has played only 17 league games
