Schalke attacker, Jefferson Farfan, is almost certain to part ways with Schalke during the upcoming January transfer window after the club officials declined to offer him a contract extension.
The striker has expressed his disappointment at the step taken by the club, as he wanted to serve Schalke for many more years. The Peruvian is satisfied with his performances at Veltins-Arena, and sees no reason for not being offered
an extension.
Farfan’s contract with Schalke is due to expire at the end of this season, and the striker will be available for sale in the upcoming January transfer window.
However, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Peru-c2981 international has expressed his affection towards the club, and admitted that he can even die on the pitch for them. The 27-year-old has wished them luck for remainder of the ongoing campaign, and is hoping to
see Schalke lift the Bundesliga crown.
While talking to Bild, the Peruvian further stated:
"I'm surprised that Schalke have rescinded the offer they gave me two weeks ago. Mainly because of the love I feel for Schalke and my desire to extend my stay. Too bad, because we were very close to reaching an agreement on the
extension. I have every intention to do that. From January 2012, I'll be ready to listen to offers from interested clubs. I have no other choice.”
"But it should be clear to all that I would die on the pitch for Schalke and I will fight with all my strength for the fans, to do the best I possibly can in the Bundesliga." The striker concluded.
Farfan landed at the Veltins-Arena in 2008, and has bagged 22 league goals from 102 appearances so far. The 27-year-old earned his Peru debut in 2003, and has scored 13 goals from 42 appearances for his country.
