Sporting Lisbon star Jeffren’s injury not as serious as originally thought
The former Barcelona man was injured during the clash with Maritimo and it was thought that he might spend a long spell on the sidelines.
However, numerous tests were conducted and according to the reports, the forward has experienced a small muscle tear in his left thigh, something which can easily be remedied.
Jeffren took part in the weekend clash after spending fair bit of time on the treatment table. However, he looked fresh and sharp during the match, and was even able to find the back of net. But in the 70th minute, he was left howling with pain
after a tackle forced him to the ground.
His initial reaction suggested that the injury might be quite severe but the thoroughly conducted medical examinations revealed otherwise.
Although the 23-year-old will miss the next few matches, the International break is a timely one and will allow him to return to full-fitness before play resumes in September.
Brazilian defender edging closer to return
Purchased from Santos in a €9.6 million deal over the summer, Alex Sandro was touted as the ideal alternative for Cristian Săpunaru.
Although Săpunaru did not seek a transfer away from Estadio do Dragao, Sandro could still be used as his deputy and was snapped up by the Dragons. However, the Brazilian International is yet to make an appearance for his new employers, as his injury woes
have limited him to the sidelines.
The left-wingback was injured during national team duty with the Selecao and since then has not been able to resume training. But there is good news on the injury-front, as he is expected to start light practise in September and will be included in the first-team
fold in October, if he manages to escape unscathed.
A highly talented defender, Alex Sandro possesses immense potential that he has, so far, been unable to exploit during his spell in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984. But it looks like his injuries are healing and he will be looking to make his comeback in the upcoming months.
