Jeffrey Swanston secures Men’s 200m backstroke gold: Day three – 2012 Canadian Summer Nationals
Jeffrey Swanston of NEW secured gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke on third day of the 2012 Canadian Summer Nationals at the Edmonton Kinsmen Sport Centre in Edmonton on Saturday, July 21.
Swanston overpowered his challengers and won gold medal of the 200m event as he amazed the crowd with his fantastic form. His impeccable start placed him prominently ahead of his opponents from the beginning and he rushed his way towards the podium for gold
medal.
He demonstrated his stupendous efforts from the start and cruised his way towards the finishing blockade for gold medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 00.45 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Matthew Swanston of NEW, who remained 0.40 seconds slower and appeared on the finishing end as second position holder with the timing of 2 minutes and 00.85 seconds.
Swanston was trailed by Chad Bobrosky of CASC, who remained 0.47 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and settled on the finishing blockade as third position holder by posting an effort of 2 minutes and 01.32 seconds.
Fourth spot of the race was obtained by Adam Best of Go Kingfish, who stayed 1.14 seconds slower and finished his race with the timing of 2 minutes and 02.46 seconds.
The 20-year-old Best was trailed by Matthew Myers of Lakeshore, who was only one stroke apart and concluded his race in fifth best place by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 02.78 seconds.
Myers enjoyed a benefit of one and a half body length over Russell Wood of CASC, who completed his swim in sixth best place by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 04.30 seconds.
Seventh fastest spot of the event was obtained by Dimitar Ivanov of Simon Fraser Aquatics, who tapped the finishing wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 04.71 seconds.
Ivanov was traced by Bryce Kananowicz of UNATT-Canada, who concluded his swim in eighth best place by touching the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 05.79 seconds.
In addition, Swanston was pleased with his pace in the 200m event at the prize ceremony of the event.
