Jehovah's Witnesses..How can I draw closer to Jehovah?

I have been around the truth for a long time and I want to have a close relationship with Jehovah, but I just don't know where to start. I know you are gonna tell me to go to the brothers and sisters and talk to them, but I don't feel that comfortable talking to them. It has nothing to do with the brothers, it's me. I've been through some things and it is really hard for me to talk to people. Any suggestions or help??

  1. In response to last part of your question, just do it.  I used to feel kinda like what you are talking about. Trust in Jehovah and make plans to go out in service with a few different friends and you can get closer to them in this way also.  We are not unique as individuals we all have these tendencies.

Read His word daily and mediate on what you have read.

Jehovah invites us to draw near to him. He is ready and willing to receive us into his favor as friends. At the same time, he promises that if we take steps to draw close to him, he will take corresponding action. He will draw close to us. Thus we may enter into something truly precious—“intimacy with Jehovah.” (Psalm 25:14) “Intimacy” conveys the idea of confidential talk with a special friend.

Left on our own, we as sinners could never be close to God. (Psalm 5:4) “But God recommends his own love to us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,” wrote the apostle Paul. (Romans 5:8) Yes, Jehovah arranged for Jesus “to give his soul a ransom in exchange for many.” (Matthew 20:28) Our faith in that ransom sacrifice makes it possible for us to be close to God. Since God “first loved us,” he laid the foundation for us to enter into friendship with him.—1 John 4:19.

Jehovah has taken another step: He has revealed himself to us. In any friendship, closeness is based on truly knowing a person, valuing his qualities and ways. So if Jehovah were a hidden, unknowable God, we could never be close to him. Yet, far from concealing himself, he wants us to know him. (Isaiah 45:19) Furthermore, what he reveals about himself is available to all, even to those of us who may be considered lowly by the world’s standards.—Matthew 11:25.

Jehovah revealed himself to us by his creative works and made known certain aspects of his personality—the vastness of his power, the richness of his wisdom, the abundance of his love. (Romans 1:20) But Jehovah’s revelation of himself does not stop with the things he created. Ever the Great Communicator, he provided a written revelation of himself in his Word, the Bible.

  2. Have you read the draw close to Jehovah book? that be a good place to start.

Most important though is study of gods word the bible along with prayer. You can also draw close to God by listening to his Word discussed at Christian meetings.

  3. Pray to Jehovah each day- Song 161

Pour out your heart to him, receive answers to your prayers via God's own book- it's a treasure (Song 180)

Attend all the meetings, associate with other friends of Jehovah, tell others about your Best Friend Jehovah.

All this will help you draw close to Jehovah (Song 225)

    :-)

  4. You are not yet baptized, right?  Maybe you have done steps in getting close to God, but you feel it is not enough.

If you are not comfortable with talking to the brothers and sisters, seek help from your Christian parents.  Ask them what is helping them in maintaining their close relationship with JEhovah.

I find Bible reading and medidating on it very helpful.  But of course it would be useless if we are not living according to its standards though we are reading it.  You saind you've been through some things, i don't know what those things are.  But if those things are not favorable to God, it will hinder you in having relationship with God.  make it a resolve to apply what you have learn from the Bible

Reading the Bible and studying it with the help of your parents will help you how loving and Jehovah is.   We will understand why JEhovah lovingly sent Jesus for us.

Bible reveals how Jehovah deals with us people.  The more we read it the more we will get to know him better.  And of course, prayer is very helpful.  The more we talk and associate with our friend, the more we get attached to them, right?  Same thing with Jehovah, the more we pour our heart to him in prayers, the more we will get attached to him.

Associating with people who serve Him will also help.  Though it is not easy for you right now, I hope someday you will become close to them, they will surely help you to draw close to God.

    Examine yourself

  6. Pull the drawstring.  Works for me all the time!

  7. Say a prayer accepting and inviting Jesus Christ into your heart and your life. That is the only way you can draw close to Jehovah. When you are close to his beloved Son, whom Jehovah loves so much, then you too can be close to Jehovah..That is not a sin you know..its requirement in order to know Christ and to know God. Try it..just pray to God, and tell him that you accept Christ into your life and you know that His son died for us..that you are a sinner and you repent and want to draw close to him.

  8. By accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as the Messiah and savior.

  9. I have had the same problem and I have found that often times others can offer you advice (i.e. the brothers and elders) but until you are fully convinced yourself it is not possible. The main thing that I have found is that you need to be reading your Bible everyday. The organization helps us to do so by printing the Daily Text for each year. We also have the Weekly Bible Reading for the Theocratic Ministry School. I enjoyed reading through the Psalms! There was so much interesting information and lots of encouraging words! You could also ask for the book: DRAW CLOSE TO JEHOVAH printed by Jehovah's Witnesses. Another great book IS: THE GREATEST MAN, it is all about the life of Jesus Christ. Feel free to contact me and I will try and offer you some good encouragement. Much luv, Kerrie Alford.....Gainesville, Texas congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses

  10. Don't, you still have a chance, run from that bunch as quickly as you can.

  11. Start with a program of daily Bible reading.  And start every morning with a prayer, and pray at night every night before you go to sleep.  Talk to him like he is your best friend.  Tell him what you need, what you want, what you know you should want and ask him to help you want more of what you should want.

Our relationship with Jehovah has nothing really to do with other people and I wouldn't advise you to go to other people.  Only by making yourself Jehovah' s friend and by making him YOUR friend are you ready to make his people your friends too.

Our Watchtower this week was really good it was about trusting Jehovah about knowing him well enough to know that when he asks something from us it is because he loves us and wants what is best for us.  When we truly have a good relationship with Jehovah we understand that.

You say "I've been through some things..." Wow.  My question to you is "who hasn't?"  Satan really wants us to mistrust other people including our brothers and sisters.  He wants us to mistrust Jehovah and even his annointed ones that he has given us as 'gifts in men".

But to be honest? If you have a place you can go, a beautiful park or a country setting some place?  I would pick a quiet day and go there.  Alone.  Sit in that beautiful setting and let the quiet wash over you.  Listen to the small sounds we usually ignore, the crickets, the birds.  Let the wind play across your face and sit very quietly and talk to your Father.  Thank him for all that is natural and beautiful and real.  Then just talk to him until you run out of things to say.

He is listening.  Ask him for forgivness for anything you've done wrong and ask him to help you to forgive others for things they may have done to you.  Then if you have any huge burdens you can't carry? ask Jehovah to carry them for you.  Then leave it all in his hands.

When you see how generously and abundantly he will answer your prayers, then you will begin to have that close relationship with him that you want to have.  He loves to give "good gifts" to his children who are asking him.  When you recieve those gifts you begin to understand just who he is, and he begins to become very real to you.  Then keep the relationship going.  Keep reading and studying about his qualities, keep applying what you have learned in your life.  In time you will WANT and need to reach out to other people who love him as you do.  He will help you get there, trust him.

  12. i kno what you are talking about when you say you are not comfortable because i wasnt...at first and then i met this absolutely wonderful lady in my kingdom hall that helped me feel more comfortable and i started reading the Bible everyday and that helped me

  13. pray to jehovah and read the bible daily.
