Question:

Jehovah's Witnesses: Why....?

Those who question you are often accused of hating/persecuting you, accused of being immoral, even hating God.

We are asked why we do not focus on sharing what we believe (instead of "running down" your beliefs)....

But isn't it true that you aren't looking to hear what others believe... but only to find those who are interested in what you believe?

Why is it okay for you to publically tear down "Christendom" but call it persecution when your own beliefs are under fire?

Again, I will quote your publications:

“Any organization that claims to be the way of salvation should be willing to submit to scrutiny and criticism.” (Awake 8/22/84, p. 28)

  1. Your statements are overly simplistic.  I haven't accused anyone of persecuting or hating me, nor of being immoral or hating God.  And as a groujp, we don't hate anyone for questioning us.  We encourage questions.

However, there are respectful ways of asking questions, and there are disrespectful ways of asking questions.

We hear what others believe all the time.  After all, we visit people at their own homes.  We talk to them and we listen to them.

Also, many of us have come from various religions and religious organizations before becoming Witnesses.  We are not ignorant of the beliefs of others.

Speaking the truth about Christendom is what it is, speaking the truth.  The same truths that the Lord Jesus Christ spoke about the religious leaders of his day.  Speaking the truth inevitably exposes error and falsehood.

As for criticism and scrutiny, we have had plenty of that.  It is not the criticism or the scrutiny that we object to, only the biased or intolerant or presumptous way in which the criticism or scrutiny are sometimes presented.

We try hard to respect other people, even when we disagree with them, and appreciate the same treatment.

  2. because it's a cult. the Watchtower has more say than the Bible and it controls what the JW's believe

  3. Now you gotta be dreaming, they are bought with another price, not the blood of Christ, you will never agree on the most important issue and that is who is Christ. He is God!

  4. I think they do not understand that we are not persecuting them when we are disagreeing with WT Society's teachings. They are trained to belittle others and they get a sick satisfaction when they are able to confuse people.

Nowhere in the Bible it is that you must have that kind of unity the JWs have. They are controlled by a cruel publishing company that need to have these free slaves to sell their products.

  5. Is Moses really comparing himself to Satan?  Wow

  6. In our day to day sharing of the good news of the Kingdom, we are faced with many and different questions.  We do not view them as persecution, nor hatred towards us, nor view them as immoral.  We are glad to answer their questions.

Maybe you are pertaining to  NOT sincere questions.  Some of the questions I read addressed to JWs are not sincere questions, some askers even accuse JWs as not Christians, guided/brainwashed by bad persons, do not accept Christ, etc.  How do you want us to view

them?  As an ally in sharing the good news and not as an persecutor?

But of course that does not prevent us from sharing to them what the Bible says or what do we believe.  Apostle Paul (formerly Saul) persecuted early followers of Christ, but he eventually became instrumental in spreading the good news about the Christ.

BUt there are also questions I find to be true.  Like "why is the NWT...", "why Jesus is not or the same with", etc.  But to be honest with you, here in YA it is not easy to determine whether an asker has a good motive in asking quesions.

Regarding your statement: "We are asked why we do not focus on sharing what we believe (instead of "running down" your beliefs)...."

You can look at the Q&A of your fellow BaC, and see for yourself what is the THEME of their messages.  Jesus himself said that he was sent for the good news of the kingdom (Luke 4:43).  In fact, some of them have more files of our teachings compared to their own outlined beliefs.

There are lot of individuals here who do not even acknowledge Jesus as our saviour or as Christ, who do not believe at God at all, who do not know why Jesus have to die for our sins, why do we suffer if God is love, etc...How are you going to help them?  By saying "JWs do not have the truth?" "that they have false perdictions" etc.?

Regarding your statement: "Why is it okay for you to publically tear down "Christendom" but call it persecution when your own beliefs are under fire?" Is it not the Bible itself tell that the Babylon the Great is fallen?  If you have the essential teachings of JWs somehow you know what I am talking about.

Regarding your statement: “Any organization that claims to be the way of salvation should be willing to submit to scrutiny and criticism.” (Awake 8/22/84, p. 28)"  Come on, we've been through that decades ago, and still under it..as i have said in our daily activities we are facing lots of questions, even scrutiny.  In fact last last week in our territory I found a bible scholar (according to him) & an LDS member who asks many things about JWs, I am glad to visit him again and discuss things.

  7. I think most think it is nerve wrecking to go out and witness, and not have any success.  They try so desperately to obtain membership because they want to be one of the 144,000 to rule over us.  It is competition to who see who gets what.  Therefore, they see an urgency to witness, because they want to be one of those fortunate and successful proselyters.  It bogs them down, so they will do anything to obtain those baptisms, making them do irrational things.  I wouldn't go and say that the JWs are bad, but I question their thinking of superiority to other JWS and non-JWs.  It isn't in there teachings, no, but it is a by-product of what unreachable expectations have of them.

  8. Stop making generalizations.

  9. Every Christian sect does this, and most are a lot ruder about it than the Jehovas Witnesses.
