  1. The food at Jekyll and Hyde is overpriced and not at all good - frozen pizzas, etc.  Why don't you take him to a nice restaurant nearby, enjoy some good food (there are a lot of restaurants in the area) and go to Jekyll and Hyde's for drinks afterwards.  You can enjoy the entire experience and not have to eat food there. (Angelo's Brick Oven Pizza on 57th Street has wonderful pizza, good food and costs less than J&H).

    Happy Birthday to the boyfriend.

  2. It'll be around $50-60, but you pay more for the atmosphere than the food, because they really put a lot into that restaurant (be sure to go to all the floors). It's cute, good for families but if you two are playful, you'll like it. You could walk to fifth avenue from there easily and look in the windows, and it's not too far from St. Patrick's and the NBS store and all that, but the immediate area isn't great. It's kind of a pocket of trashy cheap stores surrounded by a cooler NYC. But Jekyll and Hyde's is another world all together.

  3. i took my boyfriend and we spent 60, just meals and drinks. the food sucks. it is a cool place though, theres better restaurants. try the spice market in the meat packing district.

  4. I've only been to the Jekyll and Hyde Club between 57th and 58th.  I've been there several times and loved it, the food and the experience!  I usually went for lunch around 2-3 pm.  I've never had to wait when I've gone at that time.  Also, lunch is a little less expensive.  You can expect to spend around $10-$20 a plate (hamburger and/or nice salad) and if you get one of the fancy drinks with the take home glass, about $8.00 for that. I have always skipped the dessert and headed to Times Square for cheesecake.

If you go for dinner, plan on waiting about an hour to get in and spending around $20-$30 a plate.  The drink is the same price.

They also have 3 other clubs/pubs you can visit. I've heard the others are just as fun.

I  went there for 4 years in a row on Halloween around 11 pm for dessert/drinks and it was a blast.  The actors in there just ham it up.  GOOD TIMES.

As for what else to do, if you are going to this location, and money is tight, Central Park is just a up a couple blocks.  Lots of fun things there.  I always enjoy walking around FAO Schwaz up on 5th ave (not far from J&H)

Another thought is head downtown to Times Square and stand in line at the TKTs booth and get discount tickets to a broadway show.  You could see Phantom of the Oprea for half price and stay within your theme of "creepy"

I hope you have a blast and that your boyfriend loves it.  I'm jealous!!  :-)  HAVE FUN!
