Everton’s maverick striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nikica-Jelavic-c27906 revealed his hunger of playing continental football with the Toffees, and wants his side to challenge for a Europa League place in the coming season.
The Merseyside club launched a remarkable charge late in the second half of the 2011/12 season building up a nine match unbeaten streak during their run-in, which helped them finish the league table in the seventh spot; one position shy of securing a Europa
League berth.
Besides, they also failed to bring European football to Goodison Park via another conduit i.e. by securing a place in the FA Cup final, losing out to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in the semi-final.
Nevertheless the Croatian International, who made waves in the Premier League immediately after joining Everton in January, made public that he plans on scoring more goals for the Toffees next term and vowed to serve out his lengthy contract with the club.
He told the club’s official website, “I signed a four-year deal and I don’t think about going anywhere else. I want to become even better and I want to score even more goals next season.”
Jelavic made 16 appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 last term and scored 11 goals in total.
The 26-year old also believed that despite signing off from the previous season on a high, their seventh place finish was not a true depiction of the club’s calibre and they have the potential to do much better in the next term.
He continued, “If we can keep the squad and add a few quality players, I think we can fight for Europe next season.”
The prolific footballer, who has become an instant celebrity at Goodison Park, was also in awe for the fans for their remarkable and unwavering support that they had showered on him, and vowed to repay them with more goals.
He added, “I try to score goals and obviously, fans, they like the goals. I'm so happy they have accepted me and hopefully next season I can continue with the goals. I'm confident. And that's my http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.”
Jelavic also played down the notion linking the Toffees recent successes to his signing. He pointed out that Everton was a great team even before his arrival and they are like a closely knitted family.
