Everton striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nikica-Jelavic-c27906, has set himself the target of netting 15 league goals for the ongoing season.
The Croatian International also wants to play an important hand in helping his side qualify for the Champions League, and claimed that they have got what it takes to make their place in the coveted European event.
The prolific attacker stunned the football world last campaign with his whirlwind entry in the Premier League. After being signed by the Merseyside outfit for a modicum 5.5 million pounds transfer fee in January 2011, Jelavic went on to smash Everton’s 100
year record by becoming the fastest player to reach the 10-goal mark.
His inspirational role in the frontline enabled Everton to overcome their dismal start to eventually finish seventh in the table last season.
However, the forward has struggled to replicate the same form and has thus far struggled to make a major impact this term. In his 19 league appearances, he has just managed to find the back of the net on 6 occasions.
Anyhow, Jelavic has revealed his target of netting 15 league goals this campaign. The 27-year old revealed that he was determined to make major contributions in the Toffees bid to return European football to Goodison Park, and feels that it was a target
well within their reach.
“My target is to score 15 goals this season and help us finish in the top four. To play in the Champions League would be magnificent.” he told the reporters in an interview.
Everton currently hold the sixth slot in the table after 20 matches and are serious contenders for a top-four finish. After getting their season to a sublime start, the club underwent a stuttering spell before gradually getting their campaign back on track.
Although the team have been lifted by the performances of some individuals, the Croat praised the efforts of the entire unit and was impressed with the way they handled Marouane Fellaini’s suspension.
