Question:

Jelena Jankovic No 2 after Birmingham?

Jelena won the title so she loses 140 points for not entering, but her 18th tournament points which are not counted in her ranking come into play now which are 100 points. So technically she only loses 40 points. Where as Maria loses 100 points for not entering, but she has only played 15 tournaments and has no 18+ tournament points to fall back on.

Correct?

  1. yes, as long as this tournaments fall after the 52 weeks period.-

  2. Think so, difference between her and sharapova is 51 right? So that would be JJ -40 and Sharapova - 82? So that would put Jankovic at No2 with something like 10, 12 points more than Sharapova? I am a bit confused about this too:P

  3. i guess

  4. Yes, that's correct as long as the cut-off tournament for Jankovic is still within the 52-week period.  Remember that this year the schedule is one week ahead compared to last year, allowing for the week of the Olympic tennis tournament.  Playing a lot of tournaments can come in handy sometimes.

  5. I don't think so. She;s the defending champion, and she should defense her points there. But, because of her withdrawal, I think she's gonna gie more points up than Maria. So, she'll stay at no. 3, and Maria stays at no. 2.
