Question:

Jelena Jankovic to play at Court 18 at Wimbledon?

Jelena Jankovic is the number two seed and current World No. 3. She is the highest seed left in the tournament and plays Tamarine Tanasugarn on Monday. But I look at the scheduling and I did not find her name, so I scroll down and found her the first match on Court 18, the second to the last court. Why is that? She's the highest seed left and yet she is put in the second to the last court. I don't think it's because of who her opponent is; Tamarine Tanasugarn ranked 60.

Does anyone know the reason to this?

  1. On monday everyone one is play sooo probably federer and nadal got court 1 and center court

  2. I know, and Marcus Baghdatis is also on court 18:

If you look at Centre Court you will see that Roger Federer, and Hewitt sre playing which is more important. Gasquet, and Murray would be more important, and Murray is British! Kuznetsova, and Radswanska are both seeded themselves as in one is 4th seed, and the other is 14th so that would be considered more important.

If you look at Court 1 Vaidisova, and Chakvedtadze are both seeded players which would be considered important. Youzhny, and Nadal are both highly seeded, and men which makes Wimbledon put them there. Safin, and Wawrinka wouldn't be as important, but they are great players, an quite highly ranked.

Now, I think that Baghdatis, or Jankovic should've got to the 2nd court, but I think Wimbledon put the Williams sisters there, because they have been playing tennis for longer, and they feel they deserve it. I don't now why Tipsaravic is playing Schuettler on 2nd court, and they should have put Baghdatis, and Lopez who is 31st seed on that position.

Other reasons are that Jankovics' opponent is 60th in the world, and not seeded, I think Baghdatis should be on Centre Court, or Court 1 or 2, because his opponent is seeded number 31!

I don't think much people like Jelena Jankovic at the Wimbledon either!

I kinda agree with putting Jankovic on 18th court, or any court after Court 2!

    Hope this helps!

  3. I think they just dissed Jankovic. She's the second seeded player so she deserved a better court. The also put all 3 Williams sisters matches on what they call the graveyard of champions court #2. I think they're letting their bias show. Wasn't the women's matches supposed to be played on tuesday anyway?

  4. Her opponent Tamarine is not seeded - so the organizers decided that this match is not worth to be on CC or C1. But still Court 18 is pretty good, that's showcourt so you definitely have a chance to see her play.

  5. yeah it does seem a bit odd they would put her out there. not just because she's the highest seed left but because she's no2. i can see her playing on 1 or 2 court but not 18....that's an appalling scheduling, especially since she is one of the main contender's now.

i don't really understand this reasoning being that she's playing a low seed because most of the top seeds have all played even lower seeds before this and they all played on the main courts. even in the past that's been the case unless rain delays have conflicted with the scheduling. and this idea that she doesn't draw in the support is just a ridiculous position. it doesn't matter....higher seeds generally get the main courts and i don't see why they would make an exception of that in jankovic's case. if indeed this is a case of pure bias, shame on them. shame on them even more if she actually takes this crown.

  6. She does not live up to the hype.

  7. its not about the seedings. She definitely aint a crowd puller which is why it will be pointless to have her playing in a half occupied centre court when people would rather be watching Federer or Richard Gas'g*y' and Andy Murray battle it out.
