Jelly cubes appeared in garden overnight?

i have white clear jelly like cubes that have appeared in various of my plants (runners,poppies,foxgloves) they in newy seeded tubs and established plots, there was a lot of rain recently is this the problem or is ti something else ?

water crystals in the soil from nursery or from soil you have bought - naturally when it rains they expand and store water and look like jelly. It happened to me about a month ago, and it took me days to figure it out, even though I had actually added the water crystals to the soil DOH!

It could be a type of fungi, insect egg casings, water retention gel, etc....... keep an eye on it for signs of trouble.
