Jen Hao Hsu stuns Jan O Jorgensen in opening round of Men’s Singles event – China Masters Update
Chinese Taipei’s talented shuttler Jen Hao Hsu registered his presence in the Li Ning China Masters after thrashing Jan O Jorgensen in the opening round on September 12, 2012.
This Men’s Singles tussle kept both contenders head-to-head for 74 minutes and concluded with final result of 21-13, 14-21 and 21-19.
World Number eleven player Jorgensen, who was one of the frontrunners in this Super Series, could not show his class and crashed out after facing 1-2 defeat.
Meanwhile, the lower ranked but spirited Taipei campaigner played impeccable badminton and marched into the pre quarter-finals where he will be taking on Sourabh Varma of India.
Jen Hao will employ all of his confidence which he has gained through a splendid win in the first round of the event.
He did not show any sign of bewilderment against higher ranked Danish shuttler and made his intentions clear straight away in the opening game.
He established an unassailable lead by ruling the court in a couple of uninterrupted rallies and maintained the upper hand until the last shot was played.
The opposing shuttler strived hard to counter-balance the situation but could not hit the mark until the decisive margin of 13-21.
Jorgensen, who was also holding fifth spot in the tournament ranking, showed elevated craft in the very next game and turned his rival’s plan of a straight-set victory into dust.
This time he confounded Jen Hao with an amazing show of skills on the court. He started the ball rolling with 7-2 and then kept the bird under his control until score position of 11 at half time.
Later part of the game was completely dominated by Jorgensen as he widened the gap with six successive points after 12-12 and then served notice of his supremacy by registering a 21-14 total.
This revised status brought life back into the contest and both shuttlers put all in their possession to avoid an early exit.
They chased each other all the way to game point situation and made this a memorable contest. The game kept swinging between them as neither of them could maintain a permanent lead.
Finally, this cliff-hanging set ended when Jen Hao put a concluding margin of 21-19.
