Jenna Strauch secures Women’s 200m breaststroke gold – Australian Youth Olympic Festival
Jenna Strauch of Australia Green secured gold medal of the Women’s 200m breaststroke on last day of the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival at Berkeley Aquatic Club, on Sunday, January 20, 2013.
Strauch devastated hopes of her opponents in the 200m discipline as she went full rampant in secured the title. With her relentless efforts in the start, Strauch enjoyed a comfortable lead over her strongest challenger and raked the title.
She stayed nearly three and a half body length ahead of her competitor and stepped on the finishing end for gold medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 27.55 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Sydney Pickrem of Canada, who stayed comfortably slower from her and tapped the wall for silver medal by producing an effort of 2 minute and 31.09 seconds.
The silver medallist was chased by Tash Lloyd of New Zealand, who stayed 0.28 seconds slower from her former finisher and surfaced on the wall for third position with an effort of 2 minutes and 31.36 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Jessica Hansen of Australia Gold, who stayed 0.34 seconds away from reaching the podium by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 31.71 seconds.
Hansen was traced by Anna Sztankovics of Hungary, who stayed 1.22 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and stepped on the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 32.93 seconds fifth position.
Sixth best place of the event was obtained by Serina Jinguji of Japan, who stayed prominently slower from her foregoing finisher and posted a time of 2 minutes and 35.60 seconds.
Similarly, Jinguji remained 0.94 seconds ahead of Wenyi Qing of China, who posted an effort of 2 minutes and 36.54 seconds for seventh position.
Last spot of the race was secured by Abbie Johnston of New Zealand, who was unable to upset any of her opponents and posted time of 2 minutes and 37.46 seconds.
Furthermore, Strauch received a huge round of applause from the crowd while the winners were invited on the victory stand for medals and accolades after the session.
