Jennie Johansson grabs Women’s 50m breaststroke gold – FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup
Jennie Johansson of Sweden grabbed gold medal of the Women’s 50m breaststroke on second day of the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Doha, Qatar on Sunday, October 7.
Johansson dictated terms to her opponents in the shortest breaststroke discipline and faced no difficulty in snaring the crown of the race. With her unrelenting efforts, Johansson remained in a comfortable lead over her following swimmer and made her way
to the victory stand for gold medal.
Her immaculate efforts placed her full body length ahead of her toughest challenger as she sprinted her way towards the wall for the title by clocking a time of 30.69 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Fumiko Kawanabe of Japan, who stayed 0.86 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing end for silver medal by posting a time of 31.55 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Joline Hoestman of Sweden, who stayed 0.04 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall for bronze medal by producing a time of 31.59 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Miku Kanasashi of Japan, who stayed 0.19 seconds apart and settled on the wall by submitting a time of 31.78 seconds.
Kanasashi was chased by Tara-Lynn Nicholas of South Africa, who stayed nearly full body length behind and concluded her race in fifth place by touching the wall with an effort of 32.65 seconds.
Sixth finest spot of the event was secured by Tanja Smid of Slovenia, who remained 0.22 seconds slower from her former finisher and reported a time of 32.87 seconds.
Smid was trailed by Cheryl Lim of Singapore, who was 0.19 seconds behind and completed her swim in seventh place by touching the wall with a timing of 33.06 seconds.
Lim was followed by Sara Abdlrahman Al Flaij, who was unable to overpower any of her competitors. Al Flaij remained considerably slower from her former swimmer and clocked an effort of 42.47 seconds.
In addition, Johansson expressed happiness over her victory in the 50m event and articulated that she would try her level best to continue the same at forthcoming swimming events.
