Jennifer Connolly seizes Women’s 50m backstroke gold: Day two – 2012 NC Charlotte UltraSwim
Jennifer Connolly of Tennessee Aqua-S seized gold medal of the Women’s 50m backstroke on second day of the 2012 NC Charlotte UltraSwim at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte on Friday, May 11.
The 22-year-old Connolly served notice of her talent and stifled hopes of her competitors by occupying gold medal of the event.
Her impressive pace and utter determination played a strong role in her victory as she reached the finishing end for gold medal by submitting a time of 27.99 seconds.
With her intellectual efforts on the finishing blockade, she succeeded in outsmarting her closest competitor with a difference of 0.01 seconds. She was followed by Rachel Bootsma of Aquajets Swim-MN, who remained just an inch away and settled on the finishing end for silver medal by reporting a time of 28.00 seconds.
Bronze medal of the discipline was seared by Kristen Shickora of Athens Bulldog-G, who stayed 1.23 seconds apart and stepped on the victory stand by clocking a time of 29.23 seconds.
The third position holder was secured by Megan Romano of Athens Bulldog-G, who remained 0.20 seconds slower and hit the wall with the timing of 29.43 seconds for fourth position.
Romano was trailed by Therese Svendsen of Una SMU-NT, who stayed 0.14 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and occupied fifth position of the discipline by posting a time of 29.57 seconds.
The 23-year-old Svendsen was chased by Dominique Bouchard of U of Missouri-MV, who stayed only 0.04 seconds slower and clocked a time of 29.61 seconds for sixth position.
With her exhausting efforts, Bouchard remained 0.09 seconds ahead of Ann Fittin of Maryland-PV, who completed her swim in seventh best place by posting a time of 29.70 seconds.
Her effort remained 0.14 seconds faster from Stephanie Proud of Gator Swim Club, who transpired on the podium as last finisher of the event with the timing of 29.84 seconds.
Furthermore, the championship will conclude on May 13 after the completion of all swimming events while the medal winners received accolades for their notable swims at the medal ceremony of the event.
