Jennifer Rosales finishes in top 20 at Mission Hills, China
Jennifer Rosales, who was pretty confident to shine at the World Ladies Championship, played at the Mission Hill, could not do what she had planned before entering the course, as she finished the match at the 16th.
Rosales kicked off the tournament with plenty of confidence, as she scored a decent 2-under par 70. Rosales looked confident at the start because of good scores, but lost momentum in the final moments.
The Filipino professional star capped off the event by scoring 72. The even par score made a dent in the position that she gained earlier in the tournament.
The $600,000 event was inaugurated in China, with a number of competent players on the roster.
Although Rosales mostly plays on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, her participation in the World Ladies Championship—an LET (Ladies European Tour) event, was being considered important for her career.
Coming off well, Rosales carded an overall 215 to finish in the top-20. The Filipino prodigy displayed an amazing game in the opening round by making sensible strokes in the 54-hole match.
She got off to an impressive start, as she reeled off 4 birdies. She stunned the spectators on the 4th hole, where she carded her second birdie for the day.
She appeared to be in high spirits in the comfortable winds at the Mission Hills. On the 9th and 12th holes, Rosales looked like she was determined to keep the pressure on her rivals. She birdied both the holes.
However, the match was won by Shanshan Feng of China. Feng kept her rivals at bay right from the start.
She recorded a one-stroke victory against her competitors, becoming the first player of China to win any event on the LET.
She played comfortable on almost all the holes. Her first round was amazing, as she grabbed the lead with Italian Diana Luna by carding a 66.
“I wasn’t really shooting a low score today. I think at one time I was like, three behind, but I wasn’t worried at all because I knew I would have more chances on the back nine and I would catch up and finally I got it,” she said.
She added, “I was really focusing on the team score and I saw the Thailand team was really strong”.
