Jennifer Song calls 2012 season an "eye-opening"
American Jennifer Song is one of the rising stars on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association), but she has yet to rack up her first Tour title.
Although Song has missed several chances to win an event in the 2012 season, she has admitted that she learned a lot in the recent months and will make the most of this experience in the next season.
Song’s best performance was seen at the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup 2012 as she posted an overall score of 278, taking the share of 6th position on the leaderboard.
She got off to a strong start to her campaign as she shot a 69 in the first round. She maintained her momentum in the next three rounds as well, but could not finish inside the top 5.
The American star took part in 22 events in the 2012 season. She made cuts in the 13 tournaments, which shows that she has improved a lot, given her performance in the 2011 season.
The Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012 was the scene of a tough battle that saw Song shoot an overall score of 276, taking the share of 18th position on the leaderboard.
Although she has been winless on the LPGA Tour, her performance on the Futures Tour reflects that she has plenty of talent and has what it takes to beat rivals. Song won titles at the Tate & Lyle Players Championship 2010 and Greater Richmond Golf Classic
2010.
The young gun recently spoke to the media and talked about what really worked for her in the 2012 season. She said that the season has been an eye-opener for her because she fixed persistent flaws in her game.
Song pointed out that her game has got a lot better this year compared with 2011 season. “Better than the year before, unfortunately I have learned things the hard way, but it has made me very strong,” said the American golfer who turned professional in
2010.
Song said that she had focused on her putting all season, and now her short game is much better than before.
“I have more variety in my short game. I only met 15% of my goals, but I haven't gone backwards so I am happy about the direction I'm taking”.
