Jennings and Ellis star as Milwaukee Bucks cruise past the listless Indiana Pacers 99-85: NBA Recap
Milwaukee Bucks destroyed a struggling Indiana Pacers side for an easy 99-85 win here at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Wednesday night. Pacers did not go ahead in the entire game and were trailing the Bucks
by as much as 32 points at one stage.
Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis both scored a team high 16 points while Samuel Dalembert chipped in with 14 points for the Bucks. The night also marked the third anniversary of Jennings’ 55 point performance
against Golden State, the game which the Bucks won 129-125.
“That was something coach was preaching before we went out there. He said we've got to take it to them early and then they'll shut down, and that's basically what they did. It feels good to be able to beat a
team in our division knowing that they were kicking our butts all last year." Brandon Jennings said postgame.
Tyler Hansbrough led the Pacers with 17 point and was assisted by Gerald Green and Paul George who posted 13 and 12 points respectively.
Bucks got off to a flying start as they went 7-0 immediately and there was no looking back for them. They were stream rolling midway through the period and Jennings nailed a three pointer to put them up 20-6.
Moments later, he dropped down another one as they went up 27-9. The Pacers were trailing by a mammoth 17-33 deficit by the end of the period.
The already demoralized Pacers were not helped by giving away the ball 19 times in the game compared to only 6 turnovers by the Bucks. Pacers could not even catch a glimpse of the Bucks in this period who were
up 40-23 early. Bucks opened up a 20 point advantage at 50-30 and extended it further as they went into halftime leading 60-34.
Milwaukee cemented their authority as they opened up the third period with a 6-0 run to go up 66-34, their highest lead of the game. Pacers replied with a 6 nil burst of their own to cut the deficit down to 40-66.
Larry Sanders tipped one in for the Bucks as they went up 69-42 and ended the quarter to take an 82-53 into the final quarter.
Pacers tried their utmost to come back into the game as they went for an instant 11-4 burst to cut the deficit down to 86-64. They followed up the good work with a 6-0 run that had them trailing 70-89. But chasing
a 29 point advantage in a single quarter was almost impossible. Bucks were up 99-79 with just 43.9 seconds on the regulation before Pacers scored some face saving points to finish the game at 85-99.
