Jenny Holtzen and Ravi Sun triumph swimming events - High School State Championships, Arkansas
Jenny Holtzen of Fayetteville High School and Ravi Sun of Arkadelphia High School triumphed over their opponents in the 200yard freestyle in Girls and Boys category respectively on final day of the Arkansas High School State Championships for Boys and Girls
in Little Rock on February 25.
Holtzen sprinted her way towards the finishing end and posted a top fastest time of 1 minute and 54.02 seconds for gold medal. With her epic speed, she remained 5.58 seconds faster from her following swimmer, Casey Ragsdale of Conway High School, who occupied
silver medal of the event with an effort of 1 minute and 59.60 seconds.
Ragsdale was chased by Taylor Hunt of Bentonville High School, who remained nearly three seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the finishing end with the timing of 2 minutes and 02.05 seconds for silver medal.
Afterwards, the audience witnessed promising efforts of Sun in the Boys 200yard event. Sun devastated all struggles of his challengers throughout the swim and proved his eligibility for gold medal of the event with an effort of 1 minute and 46.34 seconds.
The champion was trailed by Brandon Haefner of Bentonville High School, who completed his swim in a second best time of 1 minute and 47.99 seconds. Brandon was chased by Austin Bish of Little Rock Central High School as he acquired bronze medal of the event
with a timing of 1 minute and 49.86 seconds.
Later, Jocelyn Woo of Conway High School pocketed gold medal of the Girls 200yard Individual Medley (IM) by submitting an effort of 2 minutes and 09.90 seconds for gold medal. She enjoyed a lead of almost three seconds over Maddie Edwards of Alma High School,
who finished second with an effort of 2 minutes and 12.93 seconds.
Eunsol Chon of Bentonville High School snatched bronze medal of the event as she completed her race with the timing of 2 minutes and 14.10 seconds.
In addition, the crowd admired nerve-wrecking performances of all teenage swimmers in their exclusive events whereas the position holders received accolades for their undisputed efforts after the session.
