Jenny Wallwork at ease while All England Draw doubles the trouble for Bankier-Adcock
The British mixed doubles player Jenny Wallwork gets a dream draw for The Yonex All England Badminton Championships while the top British mixed doubles team Imogen Bankier and Chris Adcock will surely have double trouble in Birmingham.
The World silver medallist pair Bankier-Adcock will have a tussle with China’s Zhao Yunlei and Zhang Nan right from the beginning of the vital event.
On the other side, God must be smiling at Jenny Wallwork as the draws put them against a weak challenger Thailand in the opening match of the event.
The British star Wallwork looked at ease and believes that she and her mixed doubles partner Nathan Robertson have fair chances of meeting Chen Hung Ling and Cheng Wen Hsing of Chinese Taipei in the next round.
She said, “We've not pulled a seeded pair and fingers crossed we can play as well as possible and come up with some good results.”
The both British mixed doubles teams, Wallwork-Robertson and Bankier-Adcock,are in tight contest for the single available entry at the London Olympics 2012.
The silver medallist couple of the 2010 Commonwealth Games Wallwork-Robertson must be considering themselves lucky to have a chance of bagging more world ranking points as they trail with 18th position against their contenders World Number 14 Bankier-Adcock.
This makes every match crucial, particularly for Bankier and Adcock to maintain their lead over their rivals. They badly need to repeat their last month’s performance where they overpowered their Chinese rivals in Korea.
The British female shuttler Jenny Wallwork is also feeling the heat and she is set to sweat for the forthcoming encounters.
She admitted, “It's a very intensive environment, we are both fighting for the same thing and we just need to focus on the next few tournaments. Ideally we could have both qualified but that wasn't to be. Any pair can beat any other pair on their day. Chris
and Imogen played fantastically at last year's world's, beat some of the top pairs and won a medal and we hope we can do the same.”
The British female shuttlers Jenny Wallwork and Imogen Bankier could not hold the pressure of the selection battle and started a war of words on a social networking site. They ended the war by saying sorry to each other.
However, the duo Wallwork-Robertson look focused now to make their cut into London Olympics as the veteran English player Nathan Robertson wants to bid farewell in a style after the mega event.
