Jens Lehmann being linked with short-term return to Arsenal – Premier League update
Former Arsenal and Germany international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jens-Lehmann-c18297, is being linked as the player to come into the Gunners squad till the end of the season, to fill in as an emergency keeper.
This is of course due to the fact that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Almunia-c23386 as the only senior keeper left at the
Emirates.
Hence the team has been rumoured to be looking to bring in a keeper till the end of the season on an emergency loan and it now seems like ‘Mad Jens’ is going to be just that man.
The keeper is currently set to make a return to the Gunners and stay with them for six weeks in order to earn his coaching badges. Six weeks also happens to be the amount of time that Szczesny is roughly going to take to recover from his finger dislocation
and ligament injury.
However when asked about the possibility of this move going through, both Wenger and Lehmann chose to stay coy about it. Lehmann is reported to have said,"I am in London and so far have heard nothing of such plans, but you never know"
The 41-year-old goal-keeper spent a glorious five years with the Gunners. In those five years he went on to make two hundred appearances for the team and was hailed as one of the best keepers to ever play for the team. The goalie returned to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 in 2008
and went on to call it quits on his playing career at the end of last season.
It is not clear as to why Wenger would want to bring in a keeper who is 41 and if anything a little rusty having not played professionally in over a year. Nonetheless as the saying goes beggars can’t be choosers and with hardly anyone else to pick amongst,
the Gunners might just be in-line for a very ‘Mad’ http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Réunion-c2989 with a former great.
Either way, the manager is bound to look elsewhere as well before settling on Lehmann or anyone else for that matter. However that being said, Arsenal are bound to reveal or make an official bid to bring in a keeper on an emergency loan by the end of the
week. This is because the team is looking to turn all their attention to the Premier League and will not want to leave anything to chance this time around and hence will be looking to bring in the best possible keeper who is available to them.
