Jens Lehmann reveals Arsenal interest in Manuel Neuer – English Premier League news

Manchester United, after their Champions League semi-final clash against the Bundesliga side, have made little effort to hide their admiration of the glove man but Lehmann argues that the Gunners have kept close tabs on the young prodigy since 2004.
However, while Arsenal might argue that they ‘saw him first’; they are by no means prime candidates to land the German goalkeeper with a one way ticket to North London. Along with Sir Alex Ferguson, German side Bayern Munich are also reported to be hot on
Schalke 04 number one’s trail.
Reflecting after an Under-19 game that featured the young goalkeeper, Lehmann commented, “At the time I also had meetings with our chief scout once a week and he told me he had spotted a really good goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer. My goalkeeping coach had him
watched and there was even talk about Arsenal trying to sign him.”
To further spice things up, Neuer has also been reported to return the love. He commented, “I always looked up to Jens. First of all he played for Schalke and I was always impressed by his way of playing and his charisma. He is an attacking goalkeeper. I
used to come early to home games when I was little to watch Jens warm-up.”
Seeing as Arsenal are not renowned for big money signings and owing to the interest surrounding the young goalkeeper, he would not come in cheap. However, on the flipside, the Gunners have been left frustrated after yet another trophy-less season.
