Jens Voigt casted his vote in Team RadioShack-Nissan’s chances at the Tour de France
Despite having a disappointing start to its 2012 season, Team RadioShack-Nissan has done well to maintain its overall lead at the Tour de France.
Fabian Cancellara secured the top overall position after winning the first stage of the race and has continued its lead for the third consecutive day in France.
He is currently leading the classifications with a good margin of 7 seconds over Bradley Wiggins of Team Sky Procycling.
Sylvain Chavanel of Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step, Tejay Van Garderen of Team BMC and Edvald Boasson Hagen of Team Sky hold the third, the fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
Team RadioShack-Nissan domestique, Jens Voigt told Cyclingnews, "That's easy. How many more days until Paris? That's how long we want to keep it”.
“Just kidding. Well, realistically we expect sprinters days now, there's no more hilly top finishes like we had on the first stage or like we had today”.
“As I said, we expect classic sprinter stages and so we expect help from the sprinters' teams”.
“We really think we can keep it without killing ourselves until the stage to La Planche des Belles Filles and then, in the ideal scenario”.
“Frank Schleck takes over, Fabian then takes it back in the time trial and then we're just smoking".
Team RadioShack-Nissan is riding the Tour de France without its main lead-out man, Andy Schleck.
The announcement was made days before the race and the cyclist noted that the main reason behind his exit from the race is because of the knee surgery that he had earlier in May.
Andy grabbed an overall victory during the 2010 edition of the race and claimed the second overall position during 2009 and the 2011.
His elder brother Frank Schleck finished third overall during the most recent version of the race and is marking his seventh appearance at the French Grand Tour.
It is the first time in the past five years that Frank is riding without his brother Andy and the cyclist has already excluded himself from the favourites list.
Fabian Cancellara however, is looking good to help the team with an overall victory if he manages to continue his tremendous run of form for the coming stages of the race.
