Jens Voigt wins the stage 4 of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge
Jens Voigt wins the fourth stage of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge after his tremendous performance during the 156.4 kilometre chase to Beaver Creek.
The cyclist crossed the finish-line in a quickest time of 3 hours and 54 minutes and occupied the top podium position.
The cyclist had some near finishes in the earlier part of the year but could not secure any victories in the first half of the season.
"I was nervous until basically 1 km to go," Voigt noted after crossing the finish-line.
"And then my director came up and said, 'You still have five minutes.' That looks pretty safe then”.
“So I had a little time to slow down a little bit and enjoy it, you know, wave to the crowd and soak up the emotions".
Andreas Kloden of Team RadioShack-Nissan fell 2 minutes and 58 seconds short and achieved the second spot while Tejay van Garderen, Levi Leipheimer and Oliver Zaugg achieving the third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
“When we saw that there was a break going up the road I thought that Jens was in it, and then we heard that he was ahead, and I thought why is he doing that. But then he stuck it, and that was pretty impressive," Garderen cited.
Jens Voigt of Team RadioShack-Nissan succeeded during the first and the second sprint of the race and also wins the first, the second and the third mountains of the race.
Joseph Lloyd Dombrowski, Javier Eduardo, Gavin Mannion, Georg Preidler and Eduard Alexander Beltran Suarez were the top five young riders on the day.

Damiano Caruso leads the point’s classifications with Tyler Farrar, Thomas Danielson, Gavin Mannion and Alessandro Bazzana securing the next four spots in the respective order.
