Jenson Button: I am very happy with what I am doing with my MP4-26 car – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is very happy with what he is doing with his MP4-26 car in the 2011 Formula 1 season.
Button added that he is satisfied with his car’s working in the season so far. He also mentioned that McLaren’s MP4-26 car balance was nice during the races and now he is confident it will strongly support them in the rest of the ongoing season.
The team driver talked to the media and stated that McLaren must learn from the new parts of their car, which have been tested during the races so far and then focus on their 2012 car.
The Woking-based outfit put on the exhaust system at the 2011 Australian Grand Prix and they received satisfactory results from that as well.
However, the Brit added that all the teams have started work on their 2012 F1 car, so McLaren must focus on how they can make their car more competitive for the next season.
Button commented, “Everyone starts building their cars earlier and earlier for the next season, and for us to say we're going to do a better job than anyone else. Ferrari are saying they're going to rule Formula 1 for the next 300 years or something, but
I don't know how quick we're going to be next year.”
The 31-year-old driver further said that he is sure McLaren are competitive during the races in the season as compared to their rivals and that he hopes they have learnt a lot of things from the season in terms of trying new parts during the races so far.
He went on to mention, “I feel it's going to continue this weekend. I have the confidence in the car to really throw it around, which is maybe the biggest thing which is different from previous seasons, and I think that will show in qualifying over the next
few races.”
McLaren have won four races in the season so far. They are at the second position in the 2011 constructors’ championship after taking part in 12 races of the ongoing season.
Let’s see how McLaren perform in the next race weekends of the 2011 F1 season.
