Jenson Button: I got everything out of the car in Japanese Grand Prix qualifiers – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he got everything out of his MP4-26 car in the qualifying round 3 of the Japanese Grand Prix on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Suzuka circuit.
Button added that he is pleased at the moment, as they were very close to Red Bull Racing driver Sebastian Vettel in Q3.
The Woking-based outfit driver had a gap of only 0.009 seconds from Vettel, who topped the Qualifiers at Suzuka. However, the Brit stated that he is delighted at his very small gap from Vettel in the qualifying round.
Button commented, “I felt like I got everything out of the car. I had a bit of oversteer on the last run but maybe I was pushing too hard. It's great from team to be close to Red Bull on a circuit where they have been dominant in the past.”
He added, “It has been a pretty good weekend. As always I love driving around here, Suzuka is a phenomenal circuit, and when the car working around here it is ideal. I was building up to Q3 and thought that last lap would be enough - but it was nine thousandths,
so not good enough.”
The 31-year-old driver took a very strong start in the Japanese race weekend. He participated in FP1, FP2 and final Practice session and secured top position in all of the three sessions as well.
The McLaren driver took part in the qualifying round with an aim of managing his pole place for Sunday’s race, but his competitor Vettel snatched the pole from him in the last moment of Q3 and due to that, he had to finish his Qualifiers’ run in the second
place.
Button will start the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix from the second position on the opening grid. His teammate Lewis Hamilton was behind him in the final Q3 classifications. The Brit will start his race from the third position at the Suzuka racetrack on October
9, 2011 in Japan.
Let’s see how both of the drivers manage the raceday at the Suzuka circuit following their strong qualifying round.
